Butcombe
Stones
The first real bank access comes at the end of stone cages almost
opposite the Island. The lake bed in front of this area is shingle
and a gentle slope provides access to deep water some 20 years out.
The stone cages are a relatively recent (around ten years old) feature
but can be considered a mature environment providing good bank fishing
access and a number of anchoring stations and drift lines to boat
fishermen.
After
the High Bank, on the right-hand side of the cove, the stone cages
continue towards the byewash giving good access to deep water for
bank fishermen and a number of drifts and anchoring stations to
boat fishermen. Bank fishermen should be aware of the footpath running
immediately behind this area.
