Cheddar Waters

Cheddar
Water is the area of the lake from the dam to the large oak tree
in the corner and derives its name from the railing-fenced step-like
brick and concrete formation in the middle of the area. This formation
is the pumping outlet from Cheddar reservoir, hence the name of
the area. I can only remember water flowing from this outlet twice
in my entire life at Blagdon following the rainless summers of 1987
and 2002.
An abiding local belief is that Cheddar Water offers
two "turning points" to fish, in the corner by the dam and at the
far-end point.
Cheddar Water offers bank fishermen the ability to
cover a range of depths of water from the corner of the dam to the
far-end point under the oak tree and provides good access to water
throughout the year.
As far as boat fishing is concerned, boats the best
tactic is either to parallel the bank on a drift or to stand off
from the pump outlet in the deeper water.
