The Crater

Lake mapThe IslandAll Saints Running up the side of the Bay from the Island is a pool known as "the crater" or "the swimming pool". This near-circular feature provides deep water (10-12 feet at top water level) and good early season to early summer fishing although by midsummer the pool is almost certain to be weed-bound.

The corner of the bank just up from the crater (a small funnel-shaped inlet) also provides bank fishermen with access to a number of depths of water in the early part of the season. For boat anglers, this stretch of bank provides a good drift in southerly breezes but is best fished at anchor by "standing off" some 100 yards.
