Peg's
Point
Peg's
Point is officially the small square area some 300 yards up the
North Shore from the Rugmoor gate. The area provides parking for
up to 3 cars and will accommodate 2-3 anglers at top water and also
provides fishing access for disabled anglers. From the bank, Peg's
provides cover to depths around eight feet with an opportunity to
fish "across the breeze" in the typical west or southwesterly winds.

From the boats, Peg's provides a landmark - try anchoring
some 70 yards off and slightly towards the dam with winds from south
to northwest and take an equivalent position on the Ubley side with
north to southeasterly winds. There is also a slight bay between
Peg's and Ash Tree with a trademark willow "hedge" running towards
Peg's, although following work in 2004, this is a shadow of its
former self. This is worth a drift in a southerly wind if the water
is at top level although for bank anglers this area only becomes
fishable once the water is between five and seven feet off top level.
Peg's provides good fishing throughout the year but can be particularly
productive at the back-end. It's also worth noting that Peg's is
frequently used as a restocking point - many of the fish in the
area may not have been on the lake for too long!
